Our Story

Mae Be Farm started with two lambs and two girls on a small family farm in Kennewick, Washington in 2005. My sister Sarah and I had joined a local 4H club to learn how to raise sheep. Over that summer I fell in love with sheep and being a shepherd. From that first market lamb the farm has expanded from market lambs to also include wool sheep, chickens, ducks, and geese.

Our Team

My name is Rebecca Harkins. I started raising sheep when I was a teenager, starting with market lambs in 4H. It was a great way to learn about and get started in raising sheep. I now raise a flock of special Romney and Merino sheep, chickens, ducks, geese and one very special English Shepherd Lad. My favorite place to be is out in the pastures with my dog and the flock. God’s gifts to us are amazing!

Mission

Mae Be Farm is committed to raising our animals in a manner that restores the land, creates a healthy environment, and is healthy and safe for our animals, our customers, and our family.

We do this by offering our our animals a fresh salad bar of diverse plants in our pasture every day. We careful manage our grazing to provide plants at the peak of ripeness. By managing our grazing we provide the treasures, healthiest food for our animals, promote a diverse and healthy ecosystem, and reduce our dependence on chemicals.

Vision

Our vision is to create a diversified sustainable farm with a diverse ecology by using our livestock in a low impact managed grazing system. We want this to a peaceful beautiful friendly place to come visit. A place where children can come and learn about the amazing outdoors in safety.
